The by-catch is what really makes this site intriguing to me. I fish 150 traps, and by-catch is just one of the things that make the job interesting. So have you seen any other finfish other than the sea raven and flounder?
My most common finfish by-catch is sculpin and pollock, I do see a few flounder every year and ocasionally a lump fish and cunner.
Als I noticed those crabs you caught are rock crabs (and pretty good sized ones to). I catch almost no rock crab in upper penbay. I catch alot of Jonah crabs, which actually makes up a big part of my income. If you close up your lobster vents and add crab vents (circle vents) you will get alot more crab as well as other bi-catch. To me,its intersting to see how the catch and by-catch varies up and down the coast . Keep up, the good work guys, this IS intersting info.
